'Knitting Circle'

Knitting Circle
Watercolour & Gouache
24 x 31cm

This one was finished over the New Year break (no rest for the wicked). I thought I was going to have an absolute nightmare with making the blanket look woollen but it turns out my continual glazing technique works really well when it comes to soft fuzzy texture. At some stages I even just brushed clean water over the top of the blanket squares just to soften edges when drybrush wasn't working.

Happy New Year, Penny!

I'm glad you like it. I don't have any prints available just yet. I have to wait until my show at Galerie Daniel Maghen (knitting Circle will feature) has been and gone before I can offer prints.

Chris, I'd like to show this painting to our blog readers, as I feel it conveys the spirit of the year of the sheep (or my idea of it). Of course I will attribute the image to you, and give a link to this page. Is that OK? The blog is at Contented.com. (Purveyors of splendid online courses on all aspects of digital communication.)

Hello! Nearly a year has gone by, and I'm hoping against hope that you now have this WONDERFUL illustration of the sheep knitting made into cards. I SO want to use it for my Christmas/New Year's card this year...
Thank you for your enchanting paintings. I usually love mice best, but this particular subject makes me chuckle; I just love it.
